BIGLAND HALL FLY FISHERY

Tickets: Available on site.

Directions: The lake is 1½ miles up a lane off the A590 road near Haverthwaite. If travelling towards Barrow-in-Furness you will enter a small dual carriageway after Newby Bridge. After this short section look out for the turnoff to the left about 400 yards along the level. The lane is signed for Bigland Hall. Follow the signs until you arrive and the fishery is on the left.

The lake is fairly shallow with the deepest area at the dam. There are two islands with access plus a long promontory. Normally good buzzer hatches, sedges, damsels and caenis so floating line imitative fishing usually scores but orange lures on sinking lines work well at the dam. There is a lodge here.
